Italië trekt veel geld uit voor onderhoud cultureel erfgoed
ITALIË – Voor het eerst sinds lange tijd trekt de Italiaanse regering veel geld uit voor onderhoud van het cultureel erfgoed. Minister Dario Franceschini van Cultuur deelde maandag in Rome mee dat hij de komende drie jaar 300 miljoen euro ter beschikking stelt voor kunstschatten, monumenten en andere cultuurgoederen. De minister verzekerde dat het budget ten goede zal komen aan alle betrokken sectoren: archeologie, bibliotheken, archieven, musea en restauratie. Israëlische raketten komen neer in Libanon
LIBANON – Israëlische raketten zijn maandag neergekomen op Libanees grondgebied. Libanese media melden volgens Reuters dat de projectielen neerkwamen in de plaats Al Wazzani. Volgens het Israëlische leger ging een bom af in de buurt van Israëlische legervoertuigen. Het leger reageerde met ‘gerichte beschietingen’. Libanon en Israël beschieten elkaar vaker. Engeland klaar voor 400e sterfdag Shakespeare
STRATFORD-UPON-AVON – William Shakespeare stierf op 23 april 1616, vierhonderd jaar geleden. Engelands beroemdste schrijver werd precies 52 jaar. Niet alleen zijn geboorte- en sterfplaats Stratford-upon-Avon maakt zich op om te herdenken. Letterlijk in het hele land beklimmen acteurs en actrices podia om een van zijn 38 toneelstukken te spelen. The National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company en zo ongeveer alle andere grote Engelse gezelschappen herdenken de schrijver. Niet alleen de toneelstukken komen aan bod. Visiting British teen vanishes in Guyana
It has been over two months since British born, Dominic Bernard landed in Guyana via the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) on his second solo trip out of England. But since then he has not been seen or heard from. On October 14, 2015 Bernard departed London, England on Caribbean Airlines (CAL) Flight BW 903 destined for Port of Spain, Trinidad. NICIL sold out state assets to finance Marriott Audit
An audit into the state of affairs of the National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL) has revealed that the entity went on a selling spree in order to get cash to finance the construction of the Marriott Hotel.
NICIL’s audit report stated that decisions were made to sell government assets with haste. It was noted that NICIL, under the leadership of the embattled Winston Brassington, decided to sell government’s share in the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) company and almost all the money received from that sale US$20M went into the construction of the Marriott. But that was not all. Prince William says fatherhood made him ‘more emotional’
UK – Prince William says becoming a father has made him “a lot more emotional” and made him realize how precious life is.
World events, and “the idea of not being around to see your children grow up”, affected him much more since the births of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the 33-year-old prince said. “The smallest things” now made him well up, he said in an ITV documentary about his father’s Prince’s Trust charity. Prince Charles said he hoped his sons would take over the trust one day. Speaking to presenters Ant and Dec – Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly alongside his brother Prince Harry, the Duke of Cambridge said: “I’m a lot more emotional than I used to be, weirdly. “I never used to get too wound up or worried about things.
