Duitsers sterven in extreme hitte VS

Jailed German nurse suspected of dozens more murders

GERMANY –  A German former nurse serving a life sentence for two murders is suspected of killing dozens more patients by injecting them with heart medication, investigators say.

A court order to exhume 99 former patients of the man – named only as Niels H – found traces of heart medication in 27 bodies, they say. Niels H, 39, was convicted in February last year over two patients’ deaths. In court he admitted killing up to 30 patients with heart medication. The judges at his trial at Oldenburg district court in West Germany said that he had a desire to win approval by resuscitating patients. He gave them overdoses of a drug that shut down their cardiovascular systems.(BBC.COM/photo: AFP)…[+]

Tobacco Legislation…DEMTOCO says Draft Bill too “draconian”

The Demerara Tobacco Company (DEMTOCO) – a member of the British American Tobacco (BAT) Group – is calling on the Guyana Government to ensure balanced regulation before approving the Bill governing tobacco control.

It has deemed some recommendations on the draft as “too draconian”. This Bill was expected to be tabled this month however, there seems to be a delay. The company said that it was left out of the consultation sessions for the new tobacco legislation which seeks to impose a ban on public smoking and to prohibit advertisement and sponsorship from the tobacco industry, among other things.(Kaieteurnews.com/photo: Kaieteurnews.com)…[+]
