Vrouw valt bij beroving
PARAMARIBO – Een 45-jarige vrouw is woensdagavond op straat gevallen toen twee rovers haar hebben overvallen. Ze liep op straat. Aan de Onyxstraat in Paramaribo stopte een bromfiets naast haar waarop twee mannen zaten. Een van de daders greep naar haar tas waardoor zij kwam te vallen. Ze bleef haar tas vasthouden en gilde om hulp waarna de rovers zijn weggereden. De criminelen hebben niets kunnen buitmaken. Ze waren gekleed in het zwart en beide hadden een integrale valhelm op. Ze reden na de daad in de richting van de Gompertstraat. Het slachtoffer heeft schaafwonden aan haar armen en benen opgelopen en een bult op haar hoofd. Vrouw beroofd van halsketting
PARAMARIBO – Een 53-jarige vrouw is maandagmiddag aan de Grote Combéweg beroofd van haar halsketting. Ze stond voor de ingang van een markt. Bij die gelegenheid kwam de rover bij haar en hij rukte haar halsketting van ongeveer 18 gram van achteren weg. Hij rende na de daad de straat op waarbij een witte bestelbus voor hem stopte. Hij nam toen plaats in het voertuig en reed in de richting van de Henck Arronstraat. Het slachtoffer heeft geen letsel opgelopen. Ze heeft na de beroving de politie gealarmeerd die ter plekke ging. PARAMARIBO – Een vijftienjarig meisje is dinsdag beroofd van haar mobiele telefoon. Ze liep over de Noordpoolweg gaande naar de richting van de Coralitastraat in Paramaribo. Toen ze ter hoogte van een woning kwam, duwde een man haar van achteren. Hij rukte daarna haar telefoon uit haar handen weg. Vervolgens koos hij het hazenpad in de richting van de Indira Gandhiweg. De dader was ongewapend, lang en slank van postuur; hij was geheel in het zwart gekleed. Het slachtoffer heeft geen letsel opgelopen. PARAMARIBO – Een man is in Paramaribo in de kraag gevat voor mishandeling. De politie heeft hem na afstemming met het Openbaar Ministerie in verzekering gesteld. De man kreeg een woordenwisseling met het latere slachtoffer en sloeg hem met zijn vuisten. Het slachtoffer moest als gevolg hiervan medisch worden behandeld. Hij deed aangifte bij de politie van de mishandeling. De wetsdienaren hebben de verdachte toen aangehouden. Het is niet bekend wat het motief is geweest van het gevecht tussen de twee mannen. Eight countries receive disaster training in Trinidad and Tobago
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) have convened a four-day training course in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, to improve the ability of policymakers from eight Caribbean countries to prepare for disasters and to assess their effects and impacts. Director of ECLAC Caribbean, Diane Quarless, noted in her opening remarks that the week’s activities “places appropriate emphasis on disaster risk management, in which the imperatives of risk reduction, risk identification, preparedness and financial protection are critical pillars of sustainable development and resilience.” These perspectives were shared by the Secretary General of the ACS, Her Excellency Dr. June Soomer, who stated that “the benefits of more integrative, proactive frameworks will better aid in disaster risk reduction and will ensure that all citizens understand vulnerabilities and their role in managing such risks.” The training,which takes place from 24-27 January 2017under the theme “Planning for Disaster Risk Management and Disaster Assessment Methodology in the context of the 2030 Development Agenda and the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals”, is being attended by policymakers representing disaster management agencies, and ministries of planning, finance, development, public works and housing in Aruba, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago, in addition to representatives from ECLAC, the ACS and Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA). CCRIF SPC (formerly the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility) also participated and presented information to participants on its available products and services and how to access the Facility. During the various sessions, participants will learn about the complexities of a disaster, how it might affect different sectors, and how to properly apply ECLAC’s Disaster Assessment Methodology, as well as the necessary information needed to implement it. Ms. Quarless also stated that continued effort is needed in dealing with disasters. “Over the past 20 years, the international community has allocated almost US $70 billion in support of emergency response, while only US $13.5 billion has been designated for disaster risk reduction.
These figures suggest that we still have work to do in raising awareness of the fact that prevention is better than cure.” Special focus is being placed through the training on the link between disaster risk management,the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the promotion of Principle 10 in the region. The 2030 Agenda outlines a set of 17 global goals aimed at ending poverty, promoting decent work and economic growth, protecting the planet and ensuring prosperity for all as part of a framework to advance sustainable development. The Agenda also recognizes the strong linkages between poverty, risk and resilience, and acknowledges how disasters can reverse accomplishments made in social, economic and environmental development.
The Partnership for Principle 10 seeks to improve national public participation systems to ensure access to information, public participation, and justice in decision-making that affects the environment. This training forms part of ECLAC’s on-going effort to strengthen the capacity of policy makers across Latin America and the Caribbean to respond to disasters. Mischa Barton was taken to a West Hollywood hospital early Thursday morning after police were called about a disturbance at her residence. “The O.C.” star was voluntarily transported to the hospital around 7:15 a.m., Sergeant Duncan of West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department told the Daily News.Barton, 31, was ranting about the world shattering, Ziggy Stardust and her mother being a witch, according to TMZ. Marokko rolt bende terroristen op
RABAT/AL-JADIDA – De Marokkaanse politie heeft vrijdag een netwerk van terroristen opgerold dat onder meer met bomgordels aanslagen beraamde. Marokkaanse media meldden dat in de ochtend bij huiszoekingen in vijf plaatsen zeven verdachten zijn opgepakt. Bij een van de huiszoekingen openden verdachten het vuur op de politie. Het is onduidelijk of hierbij slachtoffers zijn gevallen. Opiniepeiling valt slecht uit voor Trump
NEW HAVEN – Donald Trump krijgt maar weinig goedkeuring in een opiniepeiling over zijn doen en laten in de eerste week van zijn presidentschap. Van de ondervraagden is 36 procent tevreden over hem in de peiling van de Quinnipiac Universiteit in de staat Connecticut. Dat berichtte CNN vrijdag. Bij de start van het presidentschap van Trumps voorganger in 2009 kreeg president Barack Obama de goedkeuring van 59 procent van de ondervraagden.Van de ondervraagden keurt 44 procent het optreden van Trump in de eerste week af.
