In three weeks, President Trump has gone from “build the wall” to hitting a wall. After multiple guarantees that he’d rapidly remake American government Trump has gotten quickly bogged down in the mire of Washington. His quick-strike executive orders have done little or gotten stymied court. Some of his international proclamations have had to be walked back. Congress plods along at its usual creeping pace on big-ticket legislation – and confirming his own cabinet. The president of bold statements and big promises refused to admit on Friday that he’s been stymied by the pace of Washington, while admitting that he’s been frustrated by the city’s pace.(nydailynews)…[+]

New York congressman forces House action on President Trump’s business entanglements, Russia ties
A New York congressman who once tried to derail a Trump development project in Manhattan has filed a rarely used resolution hoping to force the Justice Department to share whatever information it has on the President’s conflicts of interest and potential ties to Russia.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler, who represents a swath of Manhattan’s west side, introduced on Thursday a so-called “resolution of inquiry,” on which the House Judiciary Committee must make a decision within 14 legislative days. If no decision is made, the resolution is brought to a floor vote.
Nadler said he decided to use the somewhat obscure parliamentary tactic because of Republican refusal to investigate Trump’s “wide-ranging ethics problems.”(Nydailynews)…[+]

Internal Affairs Bureau probes Bronx cops for logging overtime without working
Cops in a Bronx precinct are under investigation for possible overtime abuse, the Daily News has learned.
Police sources said the Internal Affairs Bureau recently made two visits to the 45th Precinct stationhouse to pull records.
The NYPD’s top spokesman, Deputy Commissioner Stephen Davis, confirmed that time records were pulled, but he would not provide further details.
Sources said such an inquiry suggests investigators are trying to determine if cops actually worked the hours for which they were paid — and that the records pulled date back more than a year.
One source said investigators appeared to be focused on two sergeants, but another source said the probe seems to involve more officers and that the command logs were also removed.(nydailynews)…[+]

More than half of U.S. voters said they approve of Trump’s controversial travel ban, poll shows
More voters approve of President Trump’s controversial executive order on immigration than they do of nearly any other of his orders, a new poll out Wednesday found.
More than half (55%) of registered voters said they approve of the order — which bars people from seven Muslim-majority countries and all refugees from entering the U.S. — while only 38% said they disapprove, the latest Morning Consult/Politico poll found. That would represent the highest rating found in a Morning Consult/Politico poll for any of the executive orders Trump has signed so far. The high mark ties the 55% who said in a Morning Consult/ Politico poll that they supported Trump’s executive order last month to revoke federal government funding for so-called “sanctuary cities.”(nydailynews)…[+]
