Donald Trump threatens General Motors with higher tax for 2015 decision to make cars in Mexico
President-elect Donald Trump began his Tuesday morning by tweeting a threat to General Motors about its decision — from nearly two years ago — to build one of its models in Mexico.
Stranger still, the tweet targets a company run by one of his own policy advisors. “General Motors is sending Mexican made model of Chevy Cruze to U.S. car dealers-tax free across border. Make in U.S.A.or pay big border tax!” Trump wrote in his tweet.
It was not immediately clear why Trump had GM on his mind. The car manufacturer announced in March 2015 it would build its next-generation Chevrolet Cruze compact in Coahuila, Mexico, a move that takes advantage of the country’s low labor costs. The company also still makes the model at a plant in Lordstown, Ohio.(nydailynews)…[+]
Pesticide horror in Texas home kills four children, hospitalizes six others
AMARILLO, Tex. — A poisonous gas believed to have been released when someone tried to wash away a pesticide that had been sprayed under a Texas home killed four children and left six other people hospitalized, officials said Monday.
Phosphine gas was likely released when water mixed with the pest control chemical, Amarillo fire officials said. A specific cause of death had not been released for the four children Monday afternoon. The other six people who were in the home are “not out of the woods yet,” fire officials said. Crews who responded to a 5 a.m. call to the home originally thought it was related to carbon monoxide poisoning, Amarillo fire Capt. Larry Davis said in a statement. One child died at the scene and three others died at a hospital. Officials didn’t release any identifying information, including the children’s ages or whether they were related. Davis said all four people who died were residents of the home.(nydailynews)…[+]

Putin says he will not kick out American diplomats after sanctions
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he will not kick out American diplomats in response to U.S. sanctions, and will instead wait to work with President-elect Donald Trump.
Russian officials responded angrily to Obama administration measures meant to punish its intelligence services for interfering in the U.S. election, with the country’s foreign minister saying it may mirror its Cold War rival tit-for-tat.
Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov told news agency Interfax that he has offered to President Vladimir Putin to kick out 31 employees at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow and four from the consulate in St. Petersburg. Martina Westcott, 27, turned herself in to police Wednesday and was charged with murder after admitting to fatally shooting Terrell Bruce in the head while they were driving around a section of north Philadelphia around 12:30 p.m., a police spokesman told The Philly Inquirer.
The shooting caused Bruce to lose control of the car and crash into another vehicle. Cops arrived within minutes, and initially thought Bruce had died from the collision since Westcott was nowhere to be seen.
But when medics took Bruce out of the car, they discovered a gunshot wound to his right temple. A hunt for Westcott was launched after witnesses told investigators they had seen a woman get out of the car and run away immediately following the crash.(nydailynews.com)…[+]
