A Brooklyn grandmother could spend a year in jail for allegedly assaulting an officer after being dragged from her apartment and left naked in a public hallway by a dozen “rookie” cops.

Denise Stewart is on trial in Brooklyn Criminal Court on charges of assaulting an officer in July 2014 when they attempted to arrest her on charges of beating her child.

Stewart’s 12-year-old daughter said her mother and older sister beat her in the head and hand with a belt, according to the criminal complaint. “All of this happened during the course of a training exercise involving rookies with little or no experience who were out and about looking for hands-on experience,” Stewart’s attorney, Amy Rameau, said Wednesday during her opening arguments.(nydailynews.com)…[+]

The final five survivors of the U.S.S. Arizona returned to the sunken ship on the 75^th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor to pay their respects to the 1,777 shipmates they lost in the bombing — and the 329 survivors who have died since the carnage.

The survivors will gather Wednesday for a ceremony and took an aerial tour above the Arizona Monday, which let them witness the wreck that remains at the bottom of the ocean. The fly-over marking the first time they had seen the ruins from a bird’s eye view.

The five — 96-year-old Lauren Bruner, 96-year-old Lonnie Cook, 95-year-old Lou Conter, 95-year-old Howard Kenton Potts and 94-year-old Donald Stratton — are the last of the 334 Arizona survivors. The rest of the 1,511-person crew perished in the Dec. 7, 1941 bombing.(nydailynews.com)…[+]

A 17-year-old girl has been arrested in the stabbing death of a pregnant mother in California last month. Jasmine Preciado, 22, was killed after getting into an altercation with the girl and two men in Venice Beach. When officers arrived at the scene on Nov. 21, Preciado was bleeding and unresponsive. WYOMING, Pa. — A mother bear and three cubs have been found dead in a Pennsylvania church parking lot. The Pennsylvania Game Commission calls the deaths of the sow and the cubs “highly suspicious” and is seeking information. Wildlife conservation officers responded Tuesday to a report of dead bears in the parking lot of St. Monica’s Church in West Wyoming. A Muslim off-duty NYPD officer, hailed by the mayor as a hero, and her 16-year-old son became the city’s latest hate crime victims Saturday when a bigot in Brooklyn yelled at them to “go back to your country,” police sources said.

Officer Aml Elsokary, who was off duty and wearing her hijab, dropped off her 16-year-old on Ridge Blvd. and 67th St. in Bay Ridge just before 6 p.m., the sources said. A mummified body was found in an attic in a Pennsylvania home on Wednesday, and authorities have tied the remains to a 21-year-old man who went missing two years ago. Relatives of Dyquain Rogers are demanding a complete autopsy after the coroner said the death was likely a suicide, according to GoErie.com.

The man who fatally shot ex-Jets running back Joe McKnight in a road rage showdown was released from custody early Friday without being charged, authorities said. Ronald Gasser, 54, was sprung after gunning down an unarmed McKnight in a New Orleans suburb Thursday afternoon — but he’s not in the clear yet, authorities said.

Investigators were slated to consult Friday with the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office to “discuss what, if any, charges will be brought against Mr. Gasser,” Col.
