The cost of commuting is too much for many New Yorkers who need to get past the turnstile. But somehow, they do. “There are herds of people every night at the A and C Ralph Ave. station asking for swipes,” home health aide Danna Dennis, 33, said of her stop. “Sometimes, I’m one of these people.” Dennis, who lives with her retired 61-year-old father in Crown Heights, budgets her life to the dime.Working for $10 an hour without benefits and living with Type 2 diabetes, she needs to make sure she has $45 a month for her medication, $75 every two months for doctor visits, $300 a month for food and money for her prepaid cell phone.(nydailynews.com)…[+]

Dallas prep school denounces white nationalist alumnus Richard Spencer
DALLAS — The exclusive Dallas boys’ prep school that Richard B. Spencer attended is denouncing the activities and ideas of its white nationalist alumnus.
St. Mark’s School of Texas headmaster David Dini issued the statement of criticism after a Nov. 19 rally in Washington where Spencer, a member of St. Marks Class of 1997, shouted “Hail Trump! Hail our people! Hail victory!” as supporters raised their arms in Nazi salutes.
Without referring to Spencer by name, Dini said his activities have “been deeply troubling and terribly upsetting to our whole school community. We reject racism and bigotry in all its forms and expressions.” In his statement, Dini hailed other St. Mark’s alumni for “expressing their outrage and disgust” toward the National Policy Institute, which Spencer heads, and the ideas that group promotes.(nydailynews.com)…[+]

President-elect Donald Trump has been turning away intelligence briefings since his election upset
You apparently don’t need intelligence to make America great again.
President-elect Donald Trump has reportedly been dodging classified intelligence briefings and only received two since his election win over two weeks ago — a notably lower frequency as compared to his predecessors. Mike Pence, meanwhile, has received briefings almost every single day since the election, according to both current and former U.S. officials who spoke to the Washington Post on Wednesday.
“Trump has a lot of catching up to do,” a senior official who receives daily briefings told the newspaper.
As mandated, a team of military officials and intelligence analysts has been prepped to deliver daily briefings on global conflicts and security threats to the President-elect. But even though he has no actual national security experience, Trump has only showed up for two briefings — one a couple of days after his election win, and another on Tuesday before he departed to Florida for Thanksgiving.(nydailynews.com)…[+]

Election results may have been hacked in three swing states Trump won, activists want Clinton to seek recount
A prominent group of election lawyers and computer scientists said presidential election results in three swing states that Donald Trump won may have been manipulated or hacked, and are pressing Hillary Clinton to seek a recount, according to a report.
