At least 12 North Carolina cops were injured during violent protests after a black officer fatally shot a black man who was believed to be armed — though a woman claiming to be his daughter livestreamed that he was shot “for being black.” Keith Lamont Scott, 43, was shot Tuesday afternoon at The Village at College Downs, a Charlotte apartment complex, where police looking for another person with an outstanding warrant saw Scott in a car, police said. The Charlotte-Mecklenberg officers saw Scott get out of the car with a gun and then get back in, police spokesman Keith Trietley said.(nypost.com)…[+]

How hero bar owner helped cops catch Chelsea bombing suspect

As thousands of cops hunted for a terrorist who planted 10 bombs from the Jersey Shore to Chelsea and succeeded in detonating two of them, their suspect was hiding in plain sight outside a dank New Jersey pub.

He was “sleeping like a baby,” said mechanic Chris Ricco, who thought Afghan immigrant Ahmad Khan Rahami was a bum when he spotted him in the doorway of Merdie’s Tavern in Linden around 10:30 a.m. Bar owner Harinder “Harry” Bains roused Rahami, 28, from his slumber — only to get cursed out by the country’s most-wanted fugitive.(nypost.com)…[+]

Obama won’t acknowledge terrorism — and it’s great news for Trump

Poor President Obama. He had a perfect plan — to use his final UN speech Tuesday to secure his reputation for putting Globalism First. He would preen to the assembled autocrats and bureaucrats about forcing America to take in a record number of refugees, and blast Donald Trump for putting America First. Hillary Clinton also had a perfect plan. She would keep attacking Trump and his supporters as dangerous and deplorable in hopes that she could scare her way into the White House. With Obama playing the race card to help her with black voters, Clinton would wrap her arms ever more tightly around the president and his policies between now and November.(nypost.com)…[+]

George H.W. Bush will defy party to vote Hillary: report

George H. W. Bush will cast his vote for a Democrat in November — Hillary Clinton, the wife of the man who defeated him in 1992 — rather than support the man who vanquished his son, Jeb Bush, in this election, according to a new report. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, daughter of Robert Kennedy, posted a Facebook photo of her with the former Republican president and former Republican National Committee chair with this caption: “The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!” A spokesman for Bush did not deny the report.(nypost.com)…[+]

Trump says he’s meeting with world leaders, but won’t say who

Donald Trump said Monday he has already met with “a couple” of world leaders — and is scheduled to meet with more. “I don’t want to comment on whom I’m meeting with,” Trump told “Fox & Friends” in a phone interview Monday morning. It’s been reported that Trump is meeting with Egypt President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi Monday in New York. Hillary Clinton is meeting this week with Sis, Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko and Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Trump said that with the annual United Nations General Assembly meeting this week in New York, he’s been getting a lot of requests.

“I will say that with all the folks being in New York, I’ve had a lot of calls from a lot of different people on the basis that I’m doing well and, you know, they seem to think it’s important to maybe meet. But I don’t want to comment specifically on who but a couple of people are coming over,” the Republican presidential candidate said.(nypost.com)…[+]

Chelsea bombing suspect is identified

A 28-year-old man is being sought in connection with the bomb blast that injured 29 people in Chelsea on Saturday night — and authorities are investigating the possible existence of a local terror cell, sources told The Post. Ahmad Khan Rahami, a US citizen from New Jersey who was born in Afghanistan, could be armed and dangerous, Mayor Bill de Blasio said. “We need to get this guy in right away,” de Blasio said on CNN. “My experience is once the FBI zeroes in on someone, they will get them.”(nypost.com)…[+]

Obama stays silent on Chelsea explosion but talks election

President Obama’s motorcade passed through 23rd Street, the location of Saturday night’s bombing, and slept in Manhattan Sunday night — but he still hasn’t made any public remarks on the attack in Chelsea. Instead, Obama’s first stop in New York City Sunday night was at the Gramercy Park home of restaurateur Danny Meyer and actress Audrey Meyer to attend a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Obama talked about the importance of this election — “the most important election of our lifetime” — and discussed why he believes Clinton is failing to run away with it.(Nypost.com)…[+]

Inside the scramble to cover up Clinton’s private email server

/abonnement/Computers from China and Russia tried to attack Hillary Clinton’s private e-mail server, according to never-released e-mails from the Denver company that set up and maintained the system. And other internal e-mails show the IT executives fretted about being ordered to purge e-mails and scrambled to distance themselves from what they believed was the former first lady “covering up some shaddy [shady] s- -t.” In a gallows-humor message, one called it “Hillary’s coverup operation.”(nypost.com)…[+]

Black voters are turning from Clinton to Trump in new poll

Donald Trump is gaining support among African-American voters — whose enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton is eroding, a tracking poll released Saturday revealed.

Trump saw a 16.5 percentage-point increase in backing from African-American voters in a Los Angeles Times/University of Southern California tracking poll, up from 3.1 percent on Sept. 10 to 19.6 percent through Friday. Meanwhile, the same poll showed Clinton’s support among that group plummeting from 90.4 percent on Sept. 10 to 71.4 percent.(nypost.com)…[+]

Authorities investigate Chelsea explosion as an ‘intentional act’

Police continue to investigate the “deafening’’ explosion that rocked Chelsea Saturday night, lamenting the lack of video evidence pointing to potential suspects.

“Right now there’s not much in the way of witnesses or video,” police sources told The Post of the blast, which injured 29 people, blew out scores of windows and forced the evacuation of at least two nearby buildings. Amateur video footage, confirmed by cops, shows a tranquil street interrupted by a sudden flash of eerie white light in the top of the frame. The white blast turns orange, and terrified pedestrians are seen running for cover, hands over their ears, as debris flies into the frame. The bomb itself is currently under investigation, and is only known to be a “high-powered explosive,” according to the same source.(nypost.com)…[+]
