Obama ‘furious’ at Malia for appearing to smoke pot

President Obama is “furious” with daughter Malia for puffing on what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette, according to a report.

“This is the president’s worst nightmare!” said a source, who told RadarOnline that the commander in chief took executive action, confronting his daughter about her alleged antics during the family’s summer vacation. “The end of his term is in sight — and the carefully crafted image of a world-beating family is unraveling right before his eyes!”

Video first emerged of Malia Obama, 18, appearing to puff on ganja at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago last month. Then, a “rowdy” party Malia attended on the island where her family is vacation — Martha’s Vineyard — was busted up by local cops.(nypost.com)…[+]

Bee rescue mounted after hospital starts dripping honey

A British hospital discovered it had become home to more than 100,000 bees when patients noticed honey dripping down the walls.

Beekeepers were summoned to Rockwood Hospital in Cardiff, Wales, after the discovery last month, and found a large colony of bees in the roof above a ward. Abigail Reade of the Tree Bee Society charity said Thursday that honey was “dripping through the ceiling tiles, it was dripping down the walls.” She said the hive had gone unnoticed for up to five years. It’s thought warm summer weather melted some of the wax, releasing the honey. Beekeepers from the society removed some 70,000 bees by cutting a hole in the roof. A second colony was removed from another part of the hospital this week.(nypost.com)…[+]

Trump would deport father of Orlando shooter

Donald Trump would deport the Afghanistan-born father of the killer responsible for the deadliest mass shooting in US history, the mogul said Wednesday.

“I’d throw him out,” Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity at a town hall that aired Wednesday night, referring to Hillary Clinton supporter Seddique Mateen. “If you look at him, I’d throw him out.”

Mateen, 59, was seen seated directly behind Clinton at a recent Florida rally. Later, the father of Omar Mateen told local affiliate NewsChannel 5 WPTV of West Palm Beach he wanted Clinton to beat Trump. “Hillary Clinton is good for United States versus Donald Trump, who has no solutions,” the father of the killer said. Trump joked that when he saw Mateen behind Clinton, he worried Mateen was wearing one of his signature hats. “He had the red cap on. I though it was one my caps. I said no, no,” Trump told Hannity. “Make America Great Again, I don’t think so.” The Clinton campaign tried to distance itself from Mateen’s endorsement.(nypost.com)…[+]

US paid Iran $1.3 billion in cash to settle old dispute

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration’s $400 million payoff to Iran was followed by a second transfer of $1.3 billion, it was reported Tuesday. President Obama took considerable flak for the first payment, which coincided with the release in January of four Americans being held by Tehran. Critics charged that the move smacked of ransom, which the US has pledged never to pay. The $400 million was the first installment of a $1.7 billion settlement with Iran to resolve a dispute over a failed arms deal signed before the 1979 fall of the shah.(nypost.com)…[+]

Employee finds two fetuses at wastewater treatment plant

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Authorities in South Carolina say two fetuses were found at a wastewater treatment plant on James Island. Local news agencies report that Charleston police say a Plum Island Wastewater Treatment Plant employee discovered the remains Aug. 8.

Arriving officers were taken to a pump station where they found what appeared to be two “preterm” babies that had been recovered from the wastewater. Charleston County Coroner Rae Wooten says the age of the fetuses was hard to tell, but they were probably second trimester. She says it’s unlikely they could have survived on their own outside the womb. Authorities say it’s impossible to tell how long they were in the water. Wooten says there’s no way to track exactly where the fetuses came from, referring to it as an “isolated situation.”(nypost.com)…[+]

Trump’ s ‘extreme vetting’ not unprecedented in US history

Donald Trump’s proposal for the “extreme vetting” of immigrants has a long and controversial history, in which versions of the plan have been used during times of political and social upheaval to quell fear and agitation.

From the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 to the McCarran Internal Security Act passed amid the “red scare” of the 1950s, American politicians have often taken “extreme” action to regulate immigration. “The time is overdue to develop a new screening test for the threats we face today,” Trump said in a speech on Monday. “I call it extreme vetting . . . Our country has enough problems.”(nypost.com)…[+]

Clinton hires former Fannie Mae lobbyist to transition team

Hillary Clinton on Tuesday named a former top lobbyist for bailed-out mortgage company Fannie Mae to co-chair her presidential transition team. Tom Donilon’s time at the company, 1999-2005, was at the height of the housing bubble, just before the market crashed in 2008. But his time at Fannie Mae is absent from the Clinton campaign’s official bio of the former lobbyist. He served as national security advisor in the Obama White House. Donilon will be joined by former Interior Secretary and former Senator Ken Salazar (D-Colo.), who will chair the project.Other co-chairs include longtime Clinton loyalists Maggie Williams and Neera Tanden, as well as former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm.(nypost.com)…[+]
