The father of murdered Madewini mechanic, Pooran Baljit testified when the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the capital offence commenced before Magistrate Leron Daly yesterday, in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Rayon Jones, 21, of Lot 212 Fourth Avenue, Bartica is currently on remand for the killing which is alleged to have occurred during the furtherance of a robbery. Canadian man fights off black bear with boxing skills

CANADA –   A Canadian man has fought off a 320lb (145kg) black bear with skills he learned from years as a boxer.  Rick Nelson, 61, from Ontario was walking his dog when a cub poked its head out of a shrub. Moments later, its mother charged out of the bushes and attacked.

He fought off the mother bear with his bare fists, walking away with just minor scratches on his face and chest. The Canadian forestry ministry says that attacks by black bears are rare. $771M Phase Two of East Dem. conservancy rehab project completed

Phase Two of the East Demerara Water Conservancy (EDWC) rehabilitation project was yesterday handed over to the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA).

The ceremony took place at Flagstaff, East Coast Demerara. Sicko exposes himself, attacks girl, 6, in Chinatown stairwell

A pervert exposed himself to a 6-year-old girl in a Chinatown stairwell, police said Sunday. The creep then rubbed his genitals on the little girl’s face, according to authorities.Cops said the man committed his sick acts in a first-floor stairwell of a building on Henry St. at about 8 p.m. Saturday.

‘Celebgate’ nudes hacker pleads guilty

A US man has pleaded guilty to running a phishing campaign to steal private pictures and videos from film and TV stars.

Edward Majerczyk, of Chicago, was arrested after police investigated the 2014 “celebgate” affair. Nudes of more than 100 celebrities, including Rihanna and Jennifer Lawrence, were leaked in that incident. An unidentified man leaped to his death on the Upper West Side early Sunday, police said. The man was found outside a townhouse on W. 88th St. near Columbus Ave. at 1:30 a.m., police said. Six people hit in multiple shootings throughout Brooklyn and Queens

A 30-year-old man in Brooklyn is in critical condition after being shot during a cookout late Saturday, witnesses and police said.

The victim was shot once in the chest outside an apartment building on Chauncey St. near Utica Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant just before 12 a.m., police said. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he’s in critical condition, police said. A witness who declined to give his name said he saw people running on Chauncey St. after a shot was fired. The cookout was winding down, he added. At the scene, police were looking at a grill, possibly for a weapon. Plastic plates and cups were found on the ground. well-meaning people are ignoring warnings and selfishly getting baby seals killed

Animal experts have told people countless times to leave wild animals alone — but it seems like no one is listening.

Across the Pacific Northwest, at least two seal pups have died after well-meaning people illegally picked up the animals on five occasions this summer, said Michael Milstein, a spokesman with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

State wildlife officials had to euthanize a harbor seal pup after a Washington woman picked it up and carried it home in a tote bag. The sea mammal was unresponsive and lethargic after the uninvited trip.(nydailynews.com)…[+]
