Celina ignores Govt to halt works

GUYANA-Government is involved in a tussle with a city businessman who refused to halt construction works at Celina’s Atlantic Resort. The Ministry of Public Infrastructure (MPI) is now moving to court to seek ancelina injunction to halt what it says are unauthorized activities. The hangout bar and restaurant, which made the news in recent months for the construction, is also finding itself in trouble with the sea defence authorities. Another young woman jumps off Kaieteur Falls

GUYANA-The dead woman has been identified as 21-year-old Roshinee Pagwah of Reliance, East Canje, Berbice. She was a clerk at the Guyana Power and Light Company (GPL). Reports are that the young woman who lived with her aunt, Indira, and mother, Indro Ramsundar at Berbice jumped off the 741 feet waterfalls some time around 09:00 hrs. Kaieteur News was told that the woman was a passenger on a Roraima Airways flight that left the Ogle International Airport with nine persons– four Canadians, four Americans and the 21-year-old who was the only local tourist. Man wanted for killing wanted man

One week after a wanted man was shot and subsequently died, police Tuesday issued a wanted bulletin for the man who allegedly killed him. Historian held at gunpoint, SUV hijacked

Two armed men on Monday night menacingly threatened well known historian and educator, Tota Mangar, at knife- and gun-point before escaping in his silver-grey Suzuki Escudo SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) bearing registration PMM 6392. The incident occurred on Camp Street just as Mangar was preparing to go home after leaving a book launch at Moray House on Camp and Quamina Streets, Georgetown. Contrary to reports, U.N.’s Ban Ki-moon will not visit North Korea next week

U.S  –  U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will not visit North Korea next week, his office said, contrary to earlier news reports. South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported Monday that Ban, who is South Korean, was expected to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to discuss North Korea’s nuclear weapons program, among other issues. Yakuza boss found bludgeoned to death

JAPAN   –  A yakuza boss of Japan’s largest gang syndicate was found dead on Sunday night, bleeding from the head after being bludgeoned multiple times, Japanese media reported. Schoolboy, 6, crushed by speeding car

A taxi driver Monday struck a six year-old Primary schoolboy of La Parfaite Harmonie and flung him some distance from the point of impact, before driving over and crushing him to death.6 yr. The accident occurred a little on the Westminster access road in the vicinity of Four Corners junction. The taxi, bearing registration PRR 9325, only came to a stop when it ended up in a nearby trench at La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD). The dead child has been identified as Keith Adams, a Grade One student of Linden and La Parfaite Harmonie. He was pronounced dead at the West Demerara Regional Hospital. According to reports, Adams was heading to school with a neighbour, when the driver of the car allegedly lost control of the vehicle and struck the lad from behind. OMAI shopkeeper shot dead during robbery

Bandits escaped with over a million in cash and gold, after killing a shopkeeper in what can be described, as a robbery murder on Sunday. Reports coming from the interior location are that Errol Bowen had left to go and turn off a generator in the shop when he was attacked and reportedly shot. Toddler, grandmother hospitalized after bee attack

Fifty three year-old Basmattie Kishore and her two year-old granddaughter, are now patients at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) following a bee attack last weekend. Both Kishore and her granddaughter Anysa Pooran, who reside at Lot 820 Enmore, Hope West, East Coast Demerara, are in stable condition. Kishore told this publication that she was downstairs washing clothes on Saturday , when she felt the sting of two bees. She said that a few seconds after, the whole hive came buzzing from her neighbour’s ceiling. “I start hollering and me granddaughter come to me rescue. The bees hold on pun the lil’ girl,” the woman recalled.  Already swarmed by the insects, Kishore stated that she grabbed the little girl and ran into a nearby bathroom. She went on, “I tek she (Pooran) and sat under the shower. If I didn’t rub that lil’ girl, she wudda dead.” The woman said that at the time of the incident, her husband was at work.
