Dam break sweeps away homes in Brazil, killing at least 1 person

BRAZIL –   A dam burst at an iron ore mine in Brazil, inundating a nearby small town with flood waters and mud. One person is confirmed dead, a civil defense official said.

The official could not say how many are missing or homeless. Many houses in Bento Rodrigues were buried up to the roof, video from CNN affiliate TV Record showed. Many lots were wiped clean of their homes and debris from buildings was spread over a wide area.

Police raise $3.7 at Fallen Heroes foundation launch

The Guyana Police Force in collaboration with the Cops and Faith Community Network Thursday established a foundation that will forever benefit the families of ranks who would have died in the line of duty. Baby suffers head injury after fall in Maternity ward

Minister of Public Health Dr. George Norton has ordered an investigation to ascertain how a baby boy ended up with head injuries on Tuesday in the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Maternity Ward. There are reports that a nurse dropped the newborn, minutes after his mother delivered him, while another report suggests that the baby fell off a warming bed. More than a decade later, missing Alabama boy found in Ohio

U.S –  A child who was reported missing in Alabama 13 years ago has been found safe and unharmed in Cleveland, Ohio, authorities say.

Julian Hernandez was in the legal custody of his mother when he disappeared on August 28, 2002. He was 5 then. Teenaged friends die in yet another Berbice crash

Another fatal accident on Tuesday, on the Corentyne Public Road left two more teens dead. This accident occurred hours after another had claimed two other teenaged lives on the Corentyne highway. The police are investigating the cause of this latest accident which occurred on Tuesday on No. 74 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice. Dead are driver Balram Nourang, 19, of Lot 22 B No 69 Village, Corentyne and his best friend  Haresh Ramsaywack, 17, of Lot 241 No. 69 Village, Corentyne. Driver killed in drag race accident

Another motorist lost his life last night after he lost control of his speeding car on the Lusignan Public Road, East Coast Demerara. Dead is a Mon Repos driver whose only name was given as Rakesh. He was pronounced dead on the spot by a doctor at the scene. Two die in horrific accident on C’tyne highway

The police are investigating the cause of a horrific accident which claimed the lives of two persons on Tuesday morning on the No 46 Public Road, Corentyne. Three other persons, who were all said to be relatives have been hospitalized. They were all travelling in a motor car towards New Amsterdam when the accident occurred. Seawall double suicide…Female identified as store employee, 19

A photograph on the front page of the Kaieteur News helped a South Turkeyen father to confirm Tuesday that the female victim of Monday’s double suicide was his daughter, 19-year-old Kavita Akloo. Vincent Akloo hugged his daughter’s body after accompanying police ranks into the Lyken Funeral Parlour. Kavita Akloo, a store employee, is believed to have joined her boyfriend, who is still unidentified, in a suicide pact on Monday at the Kingston Seawalls. Police recovered two receipts from the right pocket of Akloo’s companion. The receipts indicated that he had purchased two items from Caribbean Chemicals Limited on Croal Street.
