NDP to hold talks with social welfare organizations

The National Democratic Party (NDP) will hold talks with various social welfare groups, says NDP spokesman Winston Lackin to the newspaper. Pedestrian dies in the hospital

A pedestrian who on June 9 was hit by a car at the corner of the Martin Luther King- and the  Ramgoelamweg died in a local hospital on Friday morning. Vlijter-de Bruin triplets will receive state aid

It is easy for parents of  triplets to tell them apart but to others all of them look alike. “I  can easily tell them apart. Kaylan is the princess between her two brothers,” said Sharon de Bruin, mother of the tripltes  Taylan, Raylan and Kaylan. The mother and father, Tereshko Vlijter, brought the triplets who were born at the  Sint Vincentius Ziekenhuis on May 28 to Social Affairs and Community Housing Minister (Sozavo) Alice Amafo. Boy sold stolen goods on Facebook

The police recently arrested a boy on handling stolen goods charges. The suspect reportedly sold stolen goods on social media site Facebook.  Defense Attorney Michelle Lau-Kerssenberg confirmed that the boy had been arrested. The boy reportedly wanted to sell a Playstation console and a few games. Two boys had reportedly asked him to sell the stolen items. He suspected that the goods had been stolen but when he started to ask questions the boys told him not to behave like a sissy. Members of DR and RR to be installed as of July 7

V7 leaders wait for president’s next steps

The leaders of the political parties that have formed the V7 bloc have decided to wait and see what the next steps will be of the president of the Republic of Suriname, Desi Bouterse.  Mahinder Ratipal from the Progressive Reform Party  (VHP) indicated that the V7 leaders on Tuesday convened to discuss the talks that were held with the president on Monday. The V7 members parties attended a second meeting with the president on Wednesday. OKB has already finished investigation into objections

The Independent Voting Bureau (OKB) on Wednesday indicated that it had finished investigating the objections that had been filed by the V7 bloc and the National Democratic Party (NDP).  The OKB reportedly already has taken care of both matters. The results of the investigation indicate that the V7 bloc had in fact reeled in 15 area council (RR) seats and the NDP 5 in Rainville which is located in the Paramaribo District. The Central Main Voting Bureau (CHS) had announced at its public session that the V7 had 15 RR seats in Rainville and the NDP 5 but the main voting bureau in Paramaribo had indicated that all the RR seats had been reeled in by the V7 bloc…[+]
