Customer hits shopkeeper with can of infant formula

SURINAME – SU (41) allegedly hit a 39-year-old shopkeeper on the head with a can of infant formula. The assault took place at De Nieuwe Grond during the weekend. The shopkeeper reportedly sustained an injury. The suspect was arrested and charged with assault. SU reportedly went into the shop and grabbed two packs of soups but did not have enough money to pay for them. Legislators want to talk about Suralco

Billboards being removed from electricity poles

SURINAME  –  Inmates last week removed billboards that had been placed on electricity poles. The order to remove these billboards was given by District Commissioner  Jerry Miranda. Most of the billboards had been placed on the electricity poles without permission.  The inmates reportedly carried out the order at various locations. DC Miranda indicated that he wants his jurisdiction to look stately. Santokhi: “V7 to undo Amnesty Act 2012 amendments”

Somohardjo: “Moestadja was not treated impolitely by PL”

New managing director at Staatsolie as of May 1

SURINAME  – Staatsolie (State Oil Company) will have a new managing director as of May 1. Staatsolie issued a press release, indicating  that the contract of the current managing director,  Marc Waaldijk, will expire on that date and that he will retire. 7 youths in police custody

SUIRNAME –  State Attorney Krish Bhoendi expressed grave concern because seven youths have been arrested within a week. A 15-year-old girl who had allegedly stolen SRD 1,300 from her aunt was arrested. The aunt had asked the girl to  keep the money safe because she trusted her. But the girl went out with her girlfriends and spent all of it. After the aunt became aware of this, she reported the matter to the police. The woman reportedly took the girl into her home after the girl’s father had passed away. New EBS substation cost about $ 4.6 million

SURINAME  – The Energy Company Suriname (EBS) on Wednesday ‘activated’ its substation located along the Martin Luther Kingweg  in the Para District.
