IDOS and Nikos opinion polls show similar results
The opinion poll that was conducted out by Nikos in the Commewijne District has almost the same results as the one that was conducted by IDOS in the same district. Both research agencies asked respondents who they would vote for if elections were held right now. Deadly bar shooting case: KPS seeks help from citizens and foreign counterparts
The acting police commissioner of the Police Force Suriname (KPS), Agnes Daniël, on Tuesday revealed at a press briefing that the KPS has contacted its foreign colleagues from neighboring countries and Europan countries such as the Netherlands in response to the deadly shooting which left one man dead. 37-year-old Marchano Pocorni was gunned down in a bar located along the Wolframstraat early Monday morning. Police say ten girls missing
Police officials on Tuesday indicated that ten girl have gone missing. Acting Police Commissioner Agnes Daniël indicated that these girls went missing in the past three months. Some of the girls went missing after they had left their homes to go to a store while others left to go to an unknown destination. Albina taxi drivers to move to Wijdenboschbrug
The taxi drivers who transport passengers on the route Albina-Paramaribo route will not move to Ondrobon. The District Commissioner of Paramaribo-North East, Jerry Miranda, explained that officials changed their minds given the fact that there are already too many taxis at that location. Deadly shooting in bar leaves 1 dead
SURINAME – Two criminals on Monday gunned down 37-year-old Marchano Pocorni in a bar/dancing located along the Wolframstraat in Paramaribo-North. The owner of the bar/ dancing told Times of Suriname that the shooting took place around 3:15 a.m. which is about closing time. The two shooters entered the bar/ dancing, pulled out their guns and immediately opened fire on the victim. Pocorni who was shot in the head, hip and legs died at the scene of the crime. The owner of the bar indicated that he has security footage which shows that the victim was shot at from a very short distance. Fire fighter arrested for robbery
Fire fighter RR (25) was caught shortly after a robbery in the inner city on Friday. Olton Pinas, Public Relations officer of the Fire Department tells the newspaper that he has not yet received official reports of the arrest.
