Fewer fireworks imported this year

SURINAME – According to Aroen Jadoenathmisier , manager at the Import/Export/ Foreign Currency Control Division at the Ministry of Trade and Industry (HI), “we have already reached the peak period of fireworks imports. Not more than 60 containers have been imported so far. The manager told Times of Suriname that he strongly suspects that he does not expect the number of containers to exceed last year’s figure. SuAid Project generates SRD 175,000

SURINAME – The SuAid campaign has most likely  generated  more than SRD 150,000 so far. Chantal Cadogan, one of the workers from the   SuAid Project indicated that many big Surinamese companies have made donations to SuAid. The biggest donation was made by the  United Caribbean Contractors. Donation from Chinese embassy is signal for more police attention

SURINAME – Police Commissioner Humphrey Tjin Liep Shie from the Police Corps Suriname (KPS) told  Times of Suriname that he not only deems the donation of goods from the Chinese government and two local Chinese businesses as a symbolic gesture of willingness of the Chinese embassy to work with the KPS but that he also deems it as a signal that Chinese entrepreneurs are asking for more police attention. DC closes unhygienic restaurant

SURINAME – District Commissioner Jerry Miranda  on Tuesday ordered a well-known restaurant located in the northern part of Paramaribo to close its doors after inspectors from the DC’s Office of Paramaribo North East had come across an unhygienic situation during a surprise inspection. The team of inspectors pointed out that the situation was “unimaginable.” There was a strong malathion smell in the kitchen and many cockroaches and flies. People with a disability to receive welfare before Christmas

SURINAME – People with a disability will  receive their welfare before Christmas.
